Moose (top left) are chiefly found on the western side of the park. The Kawuneeche Valley is among the best areas.
Below on the left is the Gray Jay. This specimen was taken near the top of Trail Ridge Road. The birds are common throughout the park at higher elevations They are notorious beggars.
Bottom right is a pair of elk a cow and calf. The calf is a small one for this time of the year (September) possibly born late in the season. It may struggle in the winter due to its small size. This pair was part of a group of four females grazing just below the tree line on the western side of Trail Ridge Road
